Emma & Steph met in a screenwriting course in 2019 where they became fast friends. After the course ended, they launched a weekly writer’s room where they navigated pilots, features, notes, cringy dialogue, and the ups and downs of writer life with a group of friends in the industry. After four years of honing their individual voices, they decided to make something together. 

A (VERY) open brainstorm landed on the story of two women in their early 40s— one a tired mom seeking peace and quiet, the other a perpetually-single schemer looking for revenge. From there, they took notes from real life, added a sprinkle of absurdity, and came up with REDEEMER. 

The world of REDEEMER takes place at a fictional retreat of the same name that starts innocently enough but gets crazier with every wellness activity.

After building out a world and backstory that could span a limited series or feature, they settled on a short film script, hoping this proof-of-concept can pave the way for an expansive future version. Although the themes around womanhood, friendship, and wellness culture are real, Emma and Steph want this film to be laugh-out-loud funny, above all.

To support this creative calling, Emma and Steph are putting their collective decades of branding, marketing, and production experience to work for REDEEMER. Emma and Steph have not only written the short film, they are also producing and directing (with the help of some very awesome, very experienced collaborators).
